Rippa Rugby is so much fun!

Today, we played ripper rugby on the gigantic field at our school. Our coach’s name is Hamish.

The first thing that he gave us to put on were the Velcro belts and some colored Rippas. After that, we had to spread out in the marked area and try to steal other people’s Rippas. If we managed to steal another person’s rippa, we can put the rippa on our own Velcro belts.

For the next activity, we had to get into pairs and line up behind each other. We had to stand behind a cone and place the rippas one at the front of our belt and one at the back. The person at the back has to try and grab the rippa from the person in front of them. We had to listen carefully to the whistle and when the whistle blew, that was our cue to start chasing after our partners.

Then we played a real Rippa Rugby game with the rugby ball. We had to try and take the Rippa off the person that is running with the ball. If the Rippa is ripped off, then the person who had the ball had to pass the ball to someone else on his or her team.

I had a lot of fun and I was so exhausted at the end of the session as I was running around a lot.

Learning intention: We are learning to follow the correct structure of a recount.

Success criteria: I know I can do this when I write an introduction, followed by the activities and then a conclusion about our first Rippa Rugby session.
